NO Soliciting Exclusive Engagement at the Plaza!
Following a standing-room-only SOLD OUT premiere on January 3rd, NO Soliciting! continues in an exclusive January 18th-24th (7:30pm) engagement at Atlanta’s historic Plaza Theater.
"I've been in the movie distribution and theater industry for over 30 years now and I've never seen this level of positive response from an independent film premiere, ever!" explains Plaza Theatre owner, Mike Furlinger "Everyone apart of this should be proud!"
Director, writer, and producer, and sometime local stand-up, Will Dove, who also co-stars as the storyline’s dimwitted party-boy “Harry Lutz,” drew on his personal experiences in door-to-door sales as inspiration for his script. “Everyone hates you, even before you speak. And yet your livelihood hinges on selling them something that they probably don’t need or even want,” Dove recalls about his old job.
The storyline centers on the life-rut of thirty-something office worker “Dan Wood” (Ryan Lewis). After losing his long-time job and getting dumped by his cheating girlfriend, Dan is ultimately forced to move back in with his mother, “Norma Wood” {Bobbie Elzey). In, what appears to be, the final death of his dreams Dan finds himself succumbing to a door-to-door sales job. But, it's only then that he discovers new opportunities actually await behind every door. Now all he has to do keep knocking.
Other co-stars include the movie's Casting Director, and Pinch n' Ouch Owner, Grant McGowen as head womanizer “Tommy Pendergrass,” new comers Rahmell Peebles as suave nerd “Gerald Fitzgerald” and Katie Graham as the lead's love interest, “Tara Brennan,” along with nearly sixty other local actors and actresses.
Shot in and around the Atlanta metro during the record heatwave and humidity of July, the ^&@M (pronounced "up-and-at-'em") production employs a “guerrilla style” of minimal lighting, and maximum outside exposure to capture a naturalistic raw feeling.
What's next for the feature? “We’ve currently submitted to several national and international film festivals. You just never know. That's why you've got to keep knocking,” Dove adds with a grin.
