APS Board Approves Portable Classrooms at Inman
Redistricting plan includes closing seven schools in the district
The fields at Inman Middle School will look a bit different next school year.
Between six and eight portable classrooms — also known as trailers — will be installed at the Virginia-Highland middle school to alleviate overcrowding.
The Atlanta Public Schools board of education approved a redistricting plan Tuesday night that includes sending students from Hope-Hill Elementary in Old Fourth Ward to Inman and adding portables on campus to create more space for classrooms.
Inman currently houses Centennial, Mary-Lin, Morningside, and Springdale Park Elementary students.
Previous proposals included a grade six academy at either Cook Elementary or Coan Middle to feed into Inman.
Parents and residents in all communities impacted vehemently opposed both plans.
