APS Redistricting: Morningside, Spark Remain at Grady

Springdale Park remains kindergarten-through-fifth-grade

Springdale Park Elementary School and Morningside Elementary School parents can breathe a sigh of relief.

Students from Poncey-Highland, Virginia-Highland and Morningside will remain in the Grady High School cluster and attend Inman Middle School and Grady High, according to two proposed redistricting proposals released by Atlanta Public Schools Friday afternoon.

Original proposals redistricted Morningside to N. Atlanta High School in Buckhead and formed a primary learning center with Springdale Park and Hope Elementary School in Old Fourth Ward.

"I am cautiously optimistic," Springdale Park parent Nicole Foerschler Horn said. "I’m concerned that there’s not a SPARK expansion in these options and that one of the proposals continues to promote the split primary model for our adjacent neighborhood."
