Bites Nearby: Yeah! Burger
If you're looking for a great burger in the Highland area then try Yeah! Burger.
The brain child of Shaun Doty and Erik Maier, Yeah! Burger opened its doors in November of 2010. Shaun and Erik want to create a fast-casual dining experience that focuses on quality in regards to organic food, seasonality and also to be very sensitive to environmental issues, which according to Doty, are the duos personal passions.
Doty has been in the restaurant business for 22 years. He started out as a dish washer in Oklahoma where he grew up and through the years he has owned, operated and partnered in several ventures in the Atlanta area.
Patch: What are some of your most popular dishes?
Shaun: Well obviously we're all about burgers. We sell a lot of grass-fed, all organic beef from south Georgia. It's unbelievable. However we do have bison, a really good veggie burger, grilled chicken and a really awesome turkey burger. Also, just to keep things creative and interesting we have seasonally appropriate specials. In July we have a lamb burger with a salsa made from padron peppers. We are serving organic heirloom tomatoes from Crystal Farms with Sweet Grass Dairy goat cheese. We also have unusual shakes and in July we are featuring rhubarb.
Patch: What atmosphere have you tried to create at Yeah! Burger?
Shaun: We're a fast-casual restaurant but we wanted to make it a very quality experience. As a culinary person, I'm very passionate about the ingredients. For example, our beef is from White Oak Pastures in south Georgia and it's the best beef in America. It's a fifth generation ranch and Will Harris is on the leading edge of organics and grass-fed beef. That quality is very important to me. As far as design, we're meant to be fun and family friendly. I have kids so we wanted to provide a high quality experience to families so you don't feel this guilt about what you feed your children. I'm also interested in gluten free dining so we integrated that into the menu as well.
Patch: What makes Yeah! Burger unique?
Shaun: I would say the unique differentiator for us is the organic piece. But we're also a very green business. We've done everything from composting our organic waste to being a carbon neutral business. We're involved in the planting of trees in north Georgia to offset our carbon footprint. We have everything from low flow faucets to energy star equipment. It's a personal passion of ours and people seem to like it.
Patch: What is something people may not notice about Yeah! Burger on their first visit?
Shaun: Well the thing about us is the charms of Yeah! Burger are revealed after multiple visits. I know that that sounds like a sales pitch but there are literally millions of ways you can experience Yeah! Burger. You can have a gluten free bun on your burger. You can have a decadent burger experience with chili and pimento cheese. If you're feeling lean and mean you can have a grilled chicken breast, I think that's interesting for people. Also we have a full bar and we have a pretty thoughtful wine list. So you can come in here and have an awesome glass of Qupe syrah and a burger which is a dynamite burger experience.
