B.J. Roosters Plans Move to New Cheshire Bridge Location

Liquor license application approved by NPU F

A popular gay bar on Cheshire Bridge Road is planning a move to a bigger location in the area.

owner Bobby Hamill Jr. said he plans to move from the Publix shopping center on the corner of LaVista Road and Cheshire Bridge Road to a larger, two-story space a few blocks south at 2043 Cheshire Bridge Rd.

Hamill started the process to secure a liquor license for the new location and was approved for the license by neighborhood planning unit F on Monday, Dec. 19. NPU F reviews liquor license and zoning applications in Virginia-Highland, Morningside-Lenox Park, Piedmont Heights and Lindridge-Martin Manor.

The license review board that reviews applications from businesses around the city will review the application on Jan. 3. If approved, the application is sent to the mayor’s office for final approval.

Hamill said Monday he has yet to sign the lease on the new location, but plans to make the move official once the liquor license is secured.
