For years, a single state legislator has represented the Virginia-Highland neighborhood as a whole.
But legislators redrew district boundaries statewide last year, and the new maps split Virginia-Highland down the center at Virginia Avenue.
Both District 57 and District 58 will now represent the neighborhood in the state House of Representatives.
On Tuesday night, July 24, hear from the Democrats vying for the District 57 and 58 seats at a candidate forum hosted by the Virginia-Highland Civic Association.
In District 57, which includes homes north of Virginia Avenue, incumbents in what is expected to be a heated race. There is no Republican opposition.
Incumbents and are running for the District 58 seat, which includes homes south of Virginia Avenue. The winner of the July 31 primary in the general election.
All five candidates are expected to attend the forum.
