Celebrating The Defeat of Cancer
Magic of Life event lets survivors share triumphs.
The event, presented by Georgia Cancer Specialists, CSI Laboratories and Northside Hospital, gave cancer survivors a chance to celebrate their triumph over the disease.
They also shared stories of love and inspiration with others who have walked in their shoes in a fun, informal setting.
This year, more than 450 cancer survivors and their guests enjoyed free admission to Zoo Atlanta, a barbecue lunch, and live music. Despite rainy weather, the dance floor was full as survivors and their families celebrated a collective 800 years of cancer survivorship.
Magic of Life has been fulfilling its mission to enhance cancer survivorship by holding inspirational “Magic of Life” events for cancer survivors for almost 20 years.
Board President Sue Tuvell said, “We are thrilled to give cancer survivors a time and place to celebrate their survivorship. These celebrations are always inspiring and joyful, and I feel privileged to be a part of them.”
This year Lilly Oncology also provided dozens of pieces of art submitted to its On Canvas art competition for display during the event. The art contest invites individuals diagnosed with any type of cancer, as well as their families, friends, caregivers, and healthcare providers, to artistically express the journey people face when confronted with a cancer diagnosis.
Event sponsors also included J. Smith Lanier, Levino Jones, Carmichael Brasher
Tuvell, Georgia Urology, Babush Neiman Kornman & Johnson, Cresa Partners,
