Construction on New Highland Park Set to Begin

Park expected to be completed within two months

The vacant lot at the corner of N. Highland Avenue and St. Charles Avenue is set to transform into a neighborhood park.

Construction on New Highland Park, the site of the former neighborhood library, is set to begin this week pending permitting from the city of Atlanta.

The Virginia-Highland Civic Association and the Virginia-Highland Conservation League bought the land with plans to conserve green space in the neighborhood.

Plans for the nearly half-acre lot surround a bio-retention demonstration project,  which includes a slope to capture rain water. A rain garden is also included in the plans

Construction is expected to be completed within two months.
