Emory Hires Johns Hopkins Dean of Admissions

John Latting will take over as Assistant Vice Provost for Undergraduate Enrollment and Dean of Admission

The community is welcoming a new dean to campus.

John Latting, currently the dean of admissions at Johns Hopkins University, was appointed dean of admissions at Emory this week.

Latting will take on the role of assistant vice provost for undergraduate enrollment and dean of admission, according to the Emory website.

"I'm eager to join the admissions team at Emory — a great university in a great city," Latting said in a statement.

He has served as dean of undergraduate admission at Johns Hopkins since 2007. He was a member of the admissions team at Caltech from 1994 to 2001.

His responsibilities at Emory will include recruiting freshman and coordinating undergraduate admission and financial aid.

In 2011, Emory College received 100,000 inquiries and 17,000 applications for its first-year class of 1,357, according to the Emory website.

Latting will transition into the new position over the next two months.
