Emory University’s Candler School of Theology received a $15 million donation to construct the second phase buildings for the school.

The money was donated by the O. Wayne Rollins Foundation of Atlanta, a nonprofit that supports science and public health research at colleges and universities.

“This gift allows Candler to provide state-of-the-art library and teaching facilities that are critical to fulfilling our mission of preparing faithful and creative leaders for the church’s ministries in the world,” Jan Love, dean of Candler School of Theology, said in a statement.

The school’s 65,000-square-foot facility, which was completed in 2008, will be named in memory of the late Rita Anne Rollins, the first grandchild of the foundation’s namesake, according to the statement.

This latest donation to the university is part of Campaign Emory, the university’s $1.6 billion fund-raising effort. As of Dec. 31, 2011, $1.39 billion had been donated to the campaign.
