1. Cabaret Night at Callanwolde

When/Where: Friday, 6 to 9 p.m. at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, 980 Briarcliff Rd.

Why Go: Enjoy refreshments and a live cabaret performance featuring Libby Wittemore. Tour the historic mansion decorated for the holidays by Atlanta's top interior designers.

2. Virginia-Highland Annual Tree Planting

When/Where: Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at John Howell Park, 801 Virginia Ave.

Why Go: Volunteers will meet at the west end of John Howell Park and plant about 60 trees focusing on streets that are close to the Beltline.

Price: Free

3. Electronics Recylcing

When/Where: Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 320 Irwin St. NE

Why Go:Keep Atlanta Beautiful eScrap recycling dropoff.

Accepted items: personal computers, monitors, LCD screens/flat screen monitors, VCRs, radios, stereos, DVD players, microwaves, power supplies, rechargeable batteries, vacuums, banking equipment, telephones, pagers, networking equipment, laptops, keyboards, mice, power cables, medical equipment (non-hazardous), printers, copiers, fax machines, cell phones, transformers, scanners, portable electronic devices, servers, HUBS, ink cartridges, toner cartridges, remotes, modems, projectors, cameras ($10 processing fee for TVs - cash only).

4. Virginia-Highland Tour of Homes

When/Where: Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: This two-day home tour and food tasting event will showcase beautiful homes in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood and tastings by local restaurants.

Price: $25 in advance; $30 day of tour; Buy Tickets

5. Home for the Holidays: A Benefit Christmas Concert

When/Where: Sunday, 6 p.m. at Virginia Highland Church, 743 Virginia Ave.

Why Go: Composer-pianist George Skaroulis and singer-songwriter Cindi Hall will present a special Christmas concert benefitting Virginia-Highland Church and Midtown Assistance Center.
