Why Go: Celebrate the start of the planting season by buying a tree for your home or business. The sale will feature over 1,000 native and unusual trees and plants. A few of these trees include dogwood, elms, baldcypress, crapemyrtles, yellow flowering magnolias, an American wisteria called ‘Amethyst Falls’, American hazelnut, dwarf tulip-poplar, 5 varieties of silverbells, and 19 varieties of oaks.
When/Where: Saturday, 10 a.m. at 320 Irwin St. NE
Why Go: Accepted items: personal computers, monitors, LCD screens/flat screen monitors, VCRs, radios, stereos, DVD players, microwaves, power supplies, rechargeable batteries, vacuums, banking equipment, telephones, pagers, networking equipment, laptops, keyboards, mice, power cables, medical equipment (non-hazardous), printers, copiers, fax machines, cell phones, transformers, scanners, portable electronic devices, servers, HUBS, ink cartridges, toner cartridges, remotes, modems, projectors, cameras ($10 processing fee for TVs - cash only).

Why Go: Billy Allin of Cakes and Ale will demonstrate one of his signature composed salads featuring “new crop” jewel yams.

4. Sheri Castle at the Morningside Farmer's Market
When/Where: Saturday, 8:30 a.m. at 1393 N Highland Ave. NE (Parking lot across form Alon's)
Why Go: Sheri Castle will be on hand to sign copies of her book,The New Southern Garden Cookbook: Recipes for Enjoying the Best from Homegrown Gardens, Farmers' Markets, Roadside Stands and CSA Farm Boxes. Food samples will be available.

Why Go: The 41st annual celebration of everything LGBT. The Atlanta Pride Parade is on Sunday, October 9th, at 1pm beginning at the Marta Civic Center Station. The parade route ends at Piedmont Park. Check out the scheduled events.
