Seek refuge in a high-end watering hole
Each week, we’ll tell you about one great way to take a much deserved break and make life a little sweeter.
This week: Seek refuge at Highland Tap.
For some after-work unwinding or a dinner for two, step down into a cozy corner of the Highlands and into the Highland Tap, where the stone and wood interior creates a cave-meets-pub ambience that is hard to match. The area's only steakhouse since 1989, the Tap has long earned the designation of neighborhood fixture, but one that is stand-out enough to host romantic dinners or special occasion get-togethers of any kind.
The award-winning menu combines Southern comfort with '20s speakeasy elegance, in dishes like Lobster Mac & Cheese ($24.00), Southern Fried Chicken ($15.00) and Jumbo Scallops ($26.00). The hickory-fired grill delivers a variety of steaks, or try the slow-roasted prime rib, burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads and sides for every palate and appetite. So whether you want a juicy steak or a nibble on your way out about a town, you're covered. Happy Hour is 5 to 7 p.m., with specials entrees and apps.
Being a tap, of course, beverages are a significant part of the picture. And how can you pass up the place that has been voted "Best Martini" 18 years in a row?
Highland Tap is located at the corner of North Highland and Virginia Avenue; 1026 N. Highland Ave. Lunch is served Tuesday-Saturday, dinner Monday-Sunday and brunch on Sundays. For more information, visit http://www.nnnwcorp.com/highlandtap or call 404-875-3673.
