Family Bets for the Weekend
When/Where: A week of events to be held in the Michael C. Carlos Museum Reception Hall at Emory University.
Why Go: Join Emory University as they celebrate their 11th annual Tibet Week. While there will be events for all ages, the following events are especially suited for children:
- Through Friday, from 10:00am to 5:00pm, Mandala Sand Painting and Butter Sculpture live exhibitions.
- On Thursday evening from 7:30pm to 9:00pm, for your curious tweens and teens, Debate Night: “Buddhism and Science.” The Buddhist Studies Department will debate the Science Department on topics such as evolution, karma, reincarnation and ethics.
- Friday from 6:30pm to 8:00pm, Kids @ the Carlos: Mandala Workshop with Drepung Loseling monks. Pre-registration required.
- Saturday from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, Children’s Meditation Workshop, led by Brooke Dodson-Lavelle for children ages 6 through 9 years old. Pre-registration required.

- SPRING TALENT SHOW
When/Where: Thursday evening at 7:00pm in the Main Theater at Grady High School.
Why Go: This event will be a showcase of outstanding talent - come out and support these Grady students!
Pricing: $7.oo General Admission. Snacks and drinks will also be sold before the show and during intermission.
When/Where: Saturday from 9:00am to 4:45pm and on Sunday from 12:00pm to 4:45pm.
Why Go: If you haven’t visited (or even if you have) since its remodeling and re-opening in October, 2009 - a beautiful Spring weekend is the time to visit. Enjoy the museum and then a stroll around the grounds.
Pricing: Children 16 and under are always free. $8.00 - Adults; $6.00 - Seniors (60+), Military, and students with IDs. If you have a Bank of America/Merrill Lynch card, this is a Museums on Us weekend and your visit will be free for the whole family - just bring your card and a photo ID. (The High Museum of Art and the Atlanta History Center are also included in this program.)
When/Where: Runs through April 3rd at Turner Field.
Why Go: This is the last weekend to catch the Atlanta Fair - from the Duck Pond and Carousel to the Sky Wheel and Sea Ray, there is a ride for everyone in the family. Corn Dogs and Funnel Cake anyone?
Pricing: Gate Admission is $1.00 for children under 12 years old, $3.00 - $8.00 for children and adults 12 years and older (depending on the time of your visit), and children under 2 years old free. (Cash only at the gate.) Ride tickets are $1.00 per ticket with most rides taking 2 to 5 tickets per person. Special ride ticket packs and arm bands are also available.
