Grand Jury Indicts Six Men for Virginia Highland Killing, Grant Park Rape
The six men are alleged local gang members that prosecutors believe are responsible for more than 20 crimes.
Six men were indicted Friday by a Fulton County Grand Jury for the “alleged gang-related murder of a Virginia Highland man,” according to the Fulton County District Attorney’s office.
The men — ranging in age from 17 to 22 — are alleged members of the local “Jack Boys” gang and are believed to be responsible for a month-long crime spree that includes the killing of Virginia Highland man Charles Boyer and rape of a Grant Park woman.
Only three of the men — Tamario Wise, 18, Robert Veal, 17, and Raphael Cross, 22 — were charged for the Nov. 22 killing of Boyer on Virginia Avenue.
Three masked men approached Boyer and his girlfriend that night outside the Virginia Avenue apartment building, police said last year after the killing, and Boyer tried to fight them off as his girlfriend escaped.
Wise, Veal and Cross were also charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and rape.
Prosecutors believe the six men are responsible for 17 armed robberies and six carjackings in multiple neighborhoods including Virginia Highland, Grant Park, Ormewood Park, Lakewood Heights, Old Fourth Ward and Benteen Park.
The case will now be assigned to a Fulton County Superior Court Judge and scheduled for trial, according to the Fulton County District Attorney’s office.
The District Attorney’s gang unit will be overseeing the case.
