Inman Principal Tapped for Admin Job

One of four new area superintendents

Inman Middle School principal Betsy Bockman has a lot to be proud of this week.

Inman was one of only a select few schools in the Atlanta Public Schools system that avoided any involvement in the recent cheating scandal brought to light by the 800-page report released by Gov. Nathan Deal last week.

Bockman, an Atlanta resident and former Morningside Elementary School principal, was named an area superintendent Monday night by the APS board of education.

Bockman will replace Robin Hall, who was removed from her position following the release of the cheating probe last week.

The school board appointed four new area superintendents Monday night, including Donell Underdue, former principal at Brown Middle School, Danielle Battle, former principal at Martin Luther King Middle School, and David White, former principal at E. Rivers Elementary School.

Bockman was honored with the University of Georgia College of Education Professional Achievement Award in May. She also received Outstanding Principal Honors from the Governor's Office of Student Achievement in 2007 and 2008 and the Atlanta Families’ Principals Award for Excellence in Education in 2005.
