Mooncake in Virginia-Highland To Close
Owner Janet Armell says business will close location but start something new
A long-time retailer in Virginia-Highland announced Friday it will shut its doors.
Mooncake on Virginia Avenue will close, according to owner Janet Armell.
Armell said she has plans to start something new, but said she would reveal more details next week.
She said a new business will move into the location.
Mooncake — a clothing, jewelry and accessory boutique for those looking for fun, unique pieces — opened in the neighborhood in 1979.
It's unknown at press time when the store will close.

Mooncake is a business that exemplifies what retail in Virginia Highland should be. Unique, edgy, and quirky, this neighborhood institution will be missed. Congratulations, Janet, on 30+ years of a remarkable run.
