Pets In Need Can Be Helped with Paws on Pavement
Paws on Pavement is Briarcliff Animal Foundation's annual fundraiser
By Mary Phillips
Have you ever wondered what happens to the stray dogs and cats who are hit by cars or injured in fights?
Unfortunately all too often they have no one to care for them.
Briarcliff Animal Foundation looks to fill that need.
Since 2005, they have cared for sick and injured pets who are homeless and worked to find them loving families.
In the past they have provided support to many local pet-related projects, including the Piedmont Park Dog Park, the University of Georgia Veterinary School, and Pets Are Loving Support (P.A.L.S.).
BAF also works with families whose pets are seriously ill but cannot afford their treatment. Kittens in need of adoption are given exams, vaccines, and are spayed or neutered before being placed in new homes through the Purrfect Pet adoption program.
Paws on Pavement is Briarcliff Animal Foundation's annual fundraiser. This year for the first time it will be held at Piedmont Park, at the Dockside venue on Sunday, September 9th from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
There will be a 1-mile and a 2-mile race, a raffle with prizes from local businesses, a pet costume contest, as well as other activities, and it is a dog-friendly event.
Registration is free - all that participants have to do is rally their friends, family, and coworkers to sponsor their participation (whether they choose to race or not). Those who collect donations will receive a gift bag with goodies from local businesses, a t-shirt, and lunch from Sun in my Belly.
If you would like to support this deserving cause, please see the fundraising page at http://www.firstgiving.com/bafinc/paws-on-pavement-2012.
Participants will set up their own firstgiving page, or collect checks from donors. The site walks you through the few simple steps to set up a page and can even email your contacts to let them know that you need their help. There are also volunteers who can help you with any questions or problems you have with the site.
