Atlanta police are investigating a robbery that occurred Thursday afternoon on a part of the BeltLine trail near the Poncey Highland community.

Officers responded to a pedestrian robbery call at 800 Ralph McGill Boulevard around 4:30 p.m., said APD spokesman Carlos Campos.

"The victim, a 34-year-old white male, told officers he was jogging along the BeltLine when he was approached by three black males, one of whom was on a bicycle," he said. "One of the men struck him in the head with his fist, and another produced a gun. The men took his cellphone and fled towards the area of Willoughby Way near the Old Fourth Ward Skate Park."

A search of the area did not produce any suspects, Campos said.
