Shop at Whole Foods and Help Wholesome Wave

Whole foods is donating a portion of sales on Wednesday, Jan. 9 to the Georgia organization.

 

The Whole Foods Market on Ponce de Leon is helping to raise funds for Wholesome Wave Georgia, an organization that helps boost the value of food stamps used at farmers markets.

Whole Foods has pledged to donate five percent of Wednesday's net sales to Wholesome Wave, which has agreed to use all of the funds it receives on its food stamp doubling program.

Wholesome Wave Georgia board members and participating farmers will be at Whole Foods to meet shoppers. Live chef demonstrations will also be part of the event at midday and during the evening.

The Whole Foods locations on Briarcliff and in Buckhead are also participating in Wednesday's event.

Wholesome Wave's mission is "to increase access to fresh, healthy, locally grown food at producer-only farmers markets in Georgia," according to its website.

In 2009, the organization began working statewide to supplement state and federal food programs including SNAP and WIC while also helping local farmers.
