The Starbucks on Ponce de Leon Avenue in the Midtown Place shopping center officially opened its doors last week.

The popular coffee chain moved into the space at 650 Ponce De Leon Ave., formerly occupied by Dunkin Donuts.

Starbucks will compete with Dancing Goats, which is set to open across the street in Ponce City Market.

I hope the have great security. The day laborers at the entrance will be chasing away customers. I, for one, will not be patronizing this location.

I am angry at this store, but really Starbucks. My goal is to visit them all (been to 10,950), and I was ONE MILE away from this location, at Ponce and Freedom, last Monday, but did not know about the new store because Starbucks stopped listing new locations before they open (coming soon), like they used to do.

Rather frustrating, because who knows when I'll return to Atlanta.

Though rarely, I may stop in. More looking forward to Dancing Goats opening later this month at Glen Iris and North (Ponce City Market Welcome Center)... Starbucks just doesn't give me that warm and frothy "local" feeling.

I enjoy Starbucks and may frequent this location now that the mall has more stores that I shop at (Home Depot, Petsmart, and TJ Maxx). The day-laborers and seedy elements hanging out near the mall entrance on Ponce may scare some customers away; which may have led to the failure of Dunkin. However this area should start to improve as the eastside trail opens this summer and Ponce City Market is completed in ~2014. My main reason for not visiting this mall is that you can only enter via Ponce. When are they going to connect Midtown Place to Midtown Promenade? Then you would have two Starbucks really close to each other.

Boring. Anyone hanging out on that porch are gonna get harassed by bums asking for change. However, I can't wait for Ponce City Market to open and am taking the tour tomorrow!
