Super Pan Sandwich Shop Shuts Its Doors

Chef Hector Santiago is looking for a new location for the popular lunch spot

A popular Poncey-Highland sandwich shop closed its doors on Tuesday.

Chef Hector Santiago of Super Pan, the Latino sandwich shop at 1057 Blue Ridge Ave., announced Tuesday his plans to close the doors to the current location.

He said he and his wife plan to re-open the shop in a larger space to include a fully bakery and coffee shop. They also own Pura Vida, the Latin American tapas restaurant located next door to Super Pan.

“While Super Pan has received great press and reviews, and has wonderful loyal customers, the foot traffic in the area is not enough to support the high labor, high food cost concept in its current location,” Santiago said in a statement.

The last day of business for the popular lunch spot was Monday, May 14.
