Little Five Fest Adds Big Names

Little Five Fest, an all-day music festival set to take place this Saturday in venues around the Little Five area, has just added some big acts to the lineup.

Local Southern rock band Ponderosa and Reptar, a band that has quickly shot up the path to stardom that we at Local Notes remember from its first days in Athens, Ga., have both been added to the bill. Other acts among the more than 70 artists on the lineup include Odist, Glen Iris, Young Orchids and Matt Lambert, proving that this festival will showcase a wide range of genres.

T.I. Pens Second Novel

Apparently, Atlanta rapper T.I. is quite the novelist. Last year, he released “Power & Beauty: A Love Story of Life on the Streets,” co-written with David Ritz.

The sequel, “Trouble & Triumph,” is now being released, and T.I. will be at the Barnes & Noble on Peachtree Road this Thursday at 7 p.m. signing copies.

Counterpoint Festival Releases Set Times

This Thursday through Saturday, head down to Fairburn for the Counterpoint Festival, Georgia’s own electronic music and arts fest.

The schedule for every day is now online so you can plan out your weekend to fit in all your favorite artists. The lineup includes Bassnectar, Skrillex, Pretty Lights, AVICII, M83 and even Reptar. We’re particularly excited for the performances by Beats Antique and Emancipator.

Experimental band Animal Collective will be at the Tabernacle in Atlanta on Sunday, touring off its newest album, “Centipede Hz,” which was released earlier this month.

If you’re looking for a show with off-the-wall music and a strange aesthetic, check out these guys at 8 p.m. The show opens with Micachu and the Shapes, a project by U.K. singer-songwriter Mica Levi that is known for its unorthodox pop sound and instruments that include a vacuum cleaner.
