The View from the Booth: August 28, 2012

According to DeKalb County Sports Information Officer Mark Brock, the Stephenson Jaguars are lining up a new opponent to play this coming Saturday after their scheduled opponent Pine Forest of Pensacola cancelled the trip to Atlanta due to safety concerns related to Hurricane Isaac.

“The school district is worried about the safety of our kids, as am I,” Pine Forest coach Jerry Pollard told the Pensacola News Journal. “Putting them on a bus and heading off to Atlanta is not the best thing to do right now.”

Brock says organizers at the National High School Gridiron Challenge at North Gwinnett where the two teams were to play are working on getting a replacement. Brock and other sources are saying the likely replacement for the 3 PM game with Stephenson is Lincoln High School of Tallahassee.

A formal announcement of the new opponent is expected by Wednesday.
