The indie-pendent invites you to reflect on the life experiences that have helped shape who you are. What drives you? What formative moments in life do you celebrate? What experiences do you mourn? Who are you in this moment? Who were you before? Who will you be tomorrow?

Everyone has a story to tell. Each day we live our own narrative, too extended by obligations to reach into our inner selves and celebrate the essence of what makes us beautiful and unique. Consider taking two hours to yourself each week. Two hours to shine light on the talents, treasures, and tragedies within that often go neglected. Two hours to relax, reflect, and write.

As we mine our own rich histories for writing material, each week you will be invited to bring an inspirational item to class. For example, you might be asked to bring or wear a meaningful article of clothing. Each weekly session will follow the same three-part format to stir your thoughts and unearth your memories and writing potential. First, we’ll get cozy and say our hellos with a glass of wine and a quick journaling prompt. The remainder will be divided between creating a visual project and writing about an experience. The focus is on writing for the sake of one’s self. It is for documenting, for healing, for rejoicing, and for entertaining. Beginners and experienced writers alike are welcome.

As a nine-week session, group members may work towards one multi-layered, lengthy piece of work, or a series of shorter sketches. Please register online for the entire series for $270 or come to a single class for $35.
