<a href="https://www.fibroidfighters.org/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Fibroid Fighters Foundation</a> announces that Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey and celebrity makeup artist Kym Lee will host a special <a href="https://www.fibroidfighters.org/events-calendar/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Mother’s Day Brunch: Let’s Get Real About Fibroids</a> on Saturday, May 11th, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta. The event offers attendees to connect, share experiences, and learn valuable information about this common women’s health issue.
The Mother's Day Brunch: Let's Get Real About Fibroids features candid conversations about fibroids, their impact on women's lives, and personal stories from inspiring women who have navigated fibroid diagnoses. Special guests Malorie Bailey and Eugenia Buie will join Cynthia Bailey for a panel discussion, fostering a supportive and empowering environment for attendees.
This brunch is designed for women who have been diagnosed with fibroids and want to learn more about this condition, which affects a significant portion of the population—over 26 million in the U.S. alone. The event is designed to help women learn more about fibroids in a supportive community of women.
“Fibroid disease is an under-discussed medical condition that can not only impact a woman’s health and well-being, but affect her relationships, fertility, education, and career,” said Yan Katsnelson, M.D., Founder of Fibroid Fighters. “By raising awareness, women can learn about symptoms, seek diagnosis, and explore treatment options, such as non-surgical uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), which can improve their quality of life.”
Cynthia Bailey has become a strong partner with Fibroid Fighters because the organization works to raise awareness and improve the lives of women with fibroids and aligns closely with her desire to empower other women. A fibroid survivor, Bailey has spoken about experiencing fibroid symptoms – pelvic pain, painful sex, and frequent urination- for years before receiving a diagnosis.
The three panelists, Cynthia, her sister, Malorie Bailey, and Eugenia Buie, underwent a non-surgical UFE treatment, finding relief from their symptoms. UFE is a minimally invasive procedure that blocks blood flow to fibroids, causing them to shrink.
In contrast, Lee underwent a hysterectomy, the most common treatment for fibroids. Because the procedure removed her uterus entirely, Lee’s experience highlights the importance of informed decision-making. She has become a staunch supporter of women being presented with all treatment options so they can choose the best course of action that best suits their individual needs and future family planning desires.
Fibroid Fighters uses a multi-faceted approach that extends beyond events. The non-profits' website offers resources and promotes a variety of Instagram Live initiatives which spark virtual discussions that further amplify awareness.
They are also the creators of the powerful “Break the Silence, Break the Behavior” video series, which ignites national conversation on the far-reaching effects of fibroids on women’s physical and emotional well-being, impacting family life and career opportunities.
In June, Fibroid Fighters plans to hold a second fibroid awareness event in the Washington, D.C. area to jumpstart Fibroid Awareness Month observed in July to improve access to care and research funding.

Renee Marchol is proud to present Well, I Ate as part of the 2024 Atlanta Fringe Festival. 
 
Well, I Ate, is a solo storytelling show of five manna-from-heaven food memoirs that nourish an audience’s hunger for connectedness. Renee Marchol toured with two of the five stories, Wonder Bread Matzo Ball and Bacon Sandwich, in the United States and Canada over Zoom during the pandemic. Ottawa Untold and Canada’s Iridescent Robot Storytelling Club Show hosted Renee’s performances in front of live audiences. 
 
This winter, Pink Milk and Carrot Soup audiences in the Pacific Northwest, Midwest, and the Deep South have remarked like Greg of Ohio, “Renee’s stories hit home.” 
 
Well, I Ate was what Renee's mom said to her when she asked for food as a child. Renee was so malnourished that she had to get a pediatrician's note so she could attend school. But Renee has the last belly laugh because, despite a hungry start and hungry seasons, she is fed miraculously. Renee, in turn, nourishes others. 
 
Renee, the writer and performer, uses storytelling to illustrate literal and figurative hunger. 
 
HUNGER is an antagonist that menaces and stalks every character. Audiences are held in suspense and laugh along with Renee each time HUNGER is foiled. 
 
Audiences are invited to marinate upon the following questions. Have you ever dined with an enemy? What happened? Tell Renee about a time you went hungry. Tell her about a time you were fed unexpectedly. Renee reads an anonymous audience answer between her food memoirs. 
 
This show will be presented June 6th at 7PM E.S.T, June 8th at 2:30PM and 8:30PM EST, and June 9th at 4PM EST at The Marianna at The Wrecking Bar Brewpub. $15 tickets (card only) are available on AtlantaFringe.org starting May 2024.

<a href="https://www.wesleywoods.org/foundation/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">The Foundation of Wesley Woods</a> announced the 2024 honorees of its esteemed <a href="https://www.wesleywoods.org/foundation/special-events/hsl/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Heroes, Saints &amp; Legends</a> Awards to be presented at their Gala on September 19, 2024, at Flourish in Buckhead. Celebrating its 35th anniversary, this long-standing event recognizes outstanding individuals in business and philanthropy who have enriched Atlanta's community through a lifetime of achievement and commitment to leadership, service, and philanthropy. 

The distinguished honorees are Renee Lewis Glover, founder and managing member of the Catalyst Group and former President and CEO of the Atlanta Housing Authority, and the husband-and-wife team Glenn and Susan Warren, esteemed leaders and advocates for Wesley Woods and Atlanta's broader philanthropic community. 
The annual <a href="https://www.wesleywoods.org/foundation/special-events/hsl/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Heroes, Saints, &amp; Legends Gala</a> is a beacon of hope for more than 1800 older adults residing in Wesley Woods residential communities across North Georgia. Through the unwavering support of sponsors and attendees, the Gala provides essential resources for charitable care, pastoral care, and innovative wellness programming. Since its inception in 1990, the event has honored 114 exemplary leaders, raising over $8.2 million for the Foundation of Wesley Woods.
