Two side-by-side homes were originally commissioned for siblings by P.J. Wesley & Son, one of Atlanta’s prominent pre-World War I contractors.
The first home, 804 Springdale – “SOJOURNERS’ REST,“ was built in 1908, offering an Arts & Crafts aesthetic and many decorative details. The pale brick façade of this early twentieth-century, Craftsman-style home gleams brilliantly against the large old magnolia tree that shelters its expansive front porch.

The longtime owners, Drs. William & Sandra Sexson, have made few changes in the house’s original plan and decorative details.
Built-in benches and shelves, leaded glass windows, wide pocketdoorways, quarter-sawn oak floors, and Moorish archways count among the hallmarks of
the home. The Sexsons, who named their home to recognize the extensive travel that has characterized their lives, have filled the sunny rooms with art photographs and family mementoes.
Tickets for the tour can be purchased on the Druid Hills Tour of Homes website.
