The weekend is packed with events at Emory, Fernbank and other places in the neighborhood.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.  Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and places to explore.

Why Go: Patrons and friends of Chip's begin at Highland Tap from 5:00pm - 6:00pm; then move on to Fontaine's Oyster House from 6:00pm - 7:00pm and then party parades down to Nadine's Triple Crown at 7:00pm to witness the passing of Chip's 30-year old beard.

Why Go: Since 1994 when Nicholas Payton made his recording debut as a leader with “From This Moment,” the trumpeter has been lauded as a significant, top-tier voice in jazz. Originally from New Orleans, Payton studied with Ellis Marsalis and Clyde Kerr Jr.

When/Where: Saturday, 10 to 11:15 a.m.; at , 571 S Kilgo Cir.

Why Go: During the Artful Stories program, which is geared toward ages three to five years old, children will sit, surrounded by works of art, and listen to stories of ancient Greece, Egypt, Asia, and the Americas. They will then create art based on the story and cultures represented. This month's Artful Stories program features Baba Waque Diakite's The Magic Gourd, set in Mali.

Pricing: Free, but required registration to reserve a spot.

Why Go: Fernbank celebrates its newest exhibition with a day of fun for the family.  This event will feature games, hands-on activities, crafts, and giveaways from the B98.5 Street Team.

Pricing: Admission: Adults $15.00; Students and Seniors (62+) with ID $14.00; Children 3-12 $13.00; Children 2 and under (ticket required) FREE

Why Go: OK Productions presents: LIVE! On Stage Jonathan Richman  featuring Tommy Larkins. 18 years old and up.
