The weekend is packed with events at Emory, Fernbank and other places in the neighborhood.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.  Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and places to explore.

Why Go: This two-day event is part of a series organized by noted scholar of contemporary French theater, Amin Erfani.  The "US Bernard-Marie Koltès Project 2011" and is an exciting collaboration among several arts organizations including Atlanta's 7 Stages Theater.

Why Go: The UK’s innovative and award-winning classical musical sensation! “There were times, in watching her lightning-fast fingering skills and her bow flying over the strings, that we sat mesmerized, aware of only her and the exquisite, breathtaking sound she was creating,” reported the Saginaw News.

When/Where: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; , 980 Briarcliff Rd. NE

Why Go: Bring your sewing machine and join in the fun of creating a quilt block in a day! Learn easy techniques such as digital image transfers, hand stamping and a variety of stitches. Turn those bits and pieces of fabrics, trims, lace, memorabilia you bring from home and a variety of materials provided for you by the teacher into your own personal work of art - a gorgeous quilt panel to hang or use as a part of an on-going quilt project!

Pricing: $100; Registrations are accepted up to the first day of class if space is available.

When/Where: Saturday, 1 to 3 p.m; , 156 Heaton Park Dr. NE

Why Go: Design and build a bridge type structure in one of two categories: Toothpick Category and Open-Materials Category.  After entrants have designed and built their bridges, the event provides a convenient, fun-filled place to test them and see how well they work. Open to all.  Students, parents, sponsoring engineers, and teachers are welcome to submit bridges!

Why Go: "Truth and Memory," a discussion on memoir with Salman Rushdie, Distinguished Writer in Residence, Department of English, and Rosemary Magee, Vice President and Secretary of the University
