Five Things To Do This Weekend

Meet the DeKalb Superintendent finalist and much more

When/Where: Friday, 8 p.m. at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, 980 Briarcliff Rd. NE

Why Go: Dancers will learn about the rhythm and movement of Argentine Tango and how to focus on connecting with the music and their partner.  Dancers of all skill levels are welcome and no partner is necessary.  The evening begins with an introductory lesson from the expert instructors of Tango Rio.  After the introductory lesson, dancers will be ready to try out their new moves with an open tango dance party, beginning at 9:15 pm.

When/Where: Saturday, 10 a.m. at DeKalb County School District Administrative Complex, 1701 Mountain Industrial Blvd, Stone Mountain

Why Go: The DeKalb County Board of Education’s finalist for superintendent, Dr. Cheryl Atkinson, will meet with parents, community leaders and other DCSS stakeholders and share her vision for the school system.  Dr. Atkinson will give a brief overview of her vision for the school system and answer questions submitted by community members.

When/Where: Saturday, 1 to 3 p.m. at Whole Foods, 650 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE

Why Go: Whole Foods is celebrating local with Georgia’s own grass-fed beef.  Farmer Will Harris of Harris Family Heritage in Bluffton, GA and Chef Shaun Doty of Yeah! Burger in Virginia-Highland will be on hand to tell about our grass-fed beef and to share some delicious tastes!

When/Where: Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m. at , 1256 Briarcliff Rd NE, (Gouizeta Business School- 1300 Clifton Road)

Why Go: Students will receive free college prep information and hear from experts on the college admissions process and the college entrance examinations. Students will also have a chance to win a free SAT prep course and Nike backpacks.

5. Sixth Annual Midtown Restaurant Week

When/Where: Saturday through Sept. 4 at Goin Coastal, Pozole, and many others.

Why Go: Check out all the restaurants.  Enjoy special 3-course menus for $25-$35 (price does not include tax and gratuity).
