Why Go: Join the Atlanta Track Club and the Atlanta Police Foundation (APF) for the 2012 Atlanta’s Finest 5K run/walk. Proceeds from the event benefit Crime Stoppers Atlanta

Why Go: Parks Co-Chairs Lauren Wilkes Fralick and Jack White will conduct walking tours of the propsed changes to John Howell Park.

When/Where: Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at , 1274 Ponce de Leon Ave

Why Go: Get to know the kids and families heading into kindergarten this school year. Meet on the playground.

When/Where: Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at  435 Oakview Rd., Decatur

Why Go: Mary Hines, Master Gardener, will teach you important methods to keep those pesky pests away.  Learn how to use crop rotation, companion planting, garden maintenance and organic products to control insects of the lawn in your ornamental landscape and vegetable garden.

When/Where: Sunday, 9:00 a.m. at Amsterdam Walk, 500 Amsterdam Ave.

Why Go: There will be a major BeltLine cleanup on Sunday morning, August 5th, from 9 til noon in the area from Park Drive northward to Amsterdam Walk - with the emphasis being to remove the bamboo grove.
