Grady High to host debate, Saturday recycling in Old Fourth Ward and more

When/Where: Friday and Saturday at Grady High School, 929 Charles Allen Dr.

Why Go: Grady High School invites you to the 13th annual regional debate tournament, Quest for the Dream.  This tournament enhances the prestige of the Grady High School Debate team and is also a major fundraiser for the Jesters.  Grady will host about 500 debaters and 150 judges  from different parts of the state and country.

When/Where: Saturday at the former Walden Middle School, 320 Irwin St

Why Go: Creative Recycling Solutions, the EPA certified recycling company which collects the eScrap, recycles an average of 9,000 pounds per month of residents' obsolete computers, monitors, TVs and more at the KAtlB and APS event, which is the only regularly scheduled electronics recycling event in the City of Atlanta.

When/Where: Saturday, 9 a.m. at the former Junior Varsity, 1085 Lindbergh Dr.

Why Go: Safety vests, trash bags and some yummy treats to get you motivated will be provided. Please bring a grabber and gloves.

When/Where: All weekend at , 292 Moreland Ave.

Why Go: The second week in January launches the Wrecking Bar Brewpub’s first official series of neighborhood noshes, as each week is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for a local organization. A portion of the proceeds from the week of Jan. 9 will be donated to the L5P Police Mini Precinct.

When/Where: Saturday, 11 a.m. at , 981 Howell Mill Rd.

Why Go: To help people cope with the death of a pet, the AHS offers Mend-A-Heart group counseling sessions. They are held at the Shelter on the second Saturday of the month.
