Residents Begin Initial Plans for Dog Run, Garden
Residents are working on plans for a dog run and community garden in Lindridge Martin Manor
It’s not everyday that a neighborhood gets to design their own park space in the community.
Lindridge Martin Manor residents have a unique opportunity to design a dog run and community garden on Armand Road.
The property at 2381 Armand Rd. was donated to the city of Atlanta and residents are charged with finding use for the green space and fundraising to make the project happen.

The group must avoid plans for an official park because the property is officially owned by the city and can’t be transferred to the parks department due to the nature of the donation.
But with the help of local architects and community brainstorming sessions, the neighborhood association has two possible proposals for the space.

The plans will be presented and discussed at the monthly Lindridge Martin Manor Neighborhood Association meeting set for May 2 at 7 p.m.
A dog run, community garden and patio with barbecue is among the plans.
Both designs include an effort to keep part of the home and that is currently built on the property and incorporates it into the design.
It’s unclear how much of the home will be able to be used in the project. It will depend on what the contractor can safely preserve.
Money to build the space could come from grants and donations, and neighborhood volunteers hope to start fundraising once the design is approved by the city council.
Construction could start as early as 2013 depending on money.
