Tickets on Sale for Virginia Highland Tour of Homes

Annual event to feature eight unique homes.

Mark your calendars for the 19th annual Virginia Highland Tour of Homes, presented by the Virginia Highland Civic Association, and brought to you by Muffley & Associates Real Estate, Heritage Ban, and Barking Hound Village.  The event will take place Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 8, from noon to  4 p.m.

The tour features one of Atlanta’s most charming and desirable neighborhoods for in-town living. Virginia Highland is a neighborhood known for its beautiful, historic residences, unique restaurants and shopping, as well as its strong sense of community.

The tour features eight homes, each different in style and design, but all equally representative of the neighborhood’s character. This year’s lineup includes a 1920’s Georgian Revival style home transformed for the modern world by award-winning architect Yong Pak, an impeccable craftsman home newly redesigned and fashioned by Reynolds Brown of Stan Topol & Associates, an expertly restored classic bungalow and a contemporary new build with a focus on modern art.

A bonus stop at the new Briarcliff Summit, originally the Briarcliff Hotel built by Coca-Cola Founder Asa Candler, will give tour goers a rare opportunity to see inside the historic landmark.

Angelika Taylor, chairperson of this year’s Tour of Homes committee, believes that, “this year’s tour will be the most successful and well attended to date.  We have some simply amazing homes showcased this year; it will certainly be an experience for all.”

Local restaurants will provide food tastings at each of the tour homes. These restaurants include local favorites such as Fontaine’s, Highland Tap, DBA Barbeque, American Roadhouse, The Fifth Group’s La Tavola and El Taco, Rosebud, Timone’s, Marlow’s Tavern, Atkins Park and Noche.

Over the past five years, the tour has raised more than $100,000 for the Virginia Highland Civic Association. The VHCA is a non-profit organization supported exclusively through volunteers and fundraising events like the Tour of Homes whose mission is to improve the quality of life in the community.

The funds raised by the VaHi Tour of Homes will go to support various projects around Virginia Highland, including neighborhood park improvements, safety, sidewalk and traffic concerns, planning and preservation, and other community efforts.

Tour tickets are $25 in advance or $30 the weekend of the event. Tickets may be purchased at www.vahitourofhomes.org or at Intown Ace Hardware located at 854 N. Highland Ave.
