Which Is Better: Virginia-Highland or Midtown?

Virginia-Highland is known for beautiful historic houses, lively night-life and locally-owned boutiques and restaurants. Not to mention a tight-knit community with one of the most successful neighborhood watch programs in the city.

Midtown — "the cultural heart of Atlanta" — also has great shopping and even more restaurants. It's home to skyscrapers and offices of the elite and "the southeastern GLBT community."

So Curbed.com, a real estate website, posed this question to its readers: Which of them is better?

It's part of the Curbed.com's, somewhat tongue-in-cheek "Curbed Cup" 2011, a fake trophy that will be awarded to one of eight neighborhoods and towns selected among the best of metro Atlanta:

  • Sandy Springs
  • East Lake
  • Midtown West
  • Candler Park
  • Decatur
  • Inman Park
  • Virginia-Highland
  • Midtown

In round one, East Lake bested Sandy Springs, while Midtown West edged out Candler Park in round two. Inman Park defeated Decatur in round three.
