Callanwolde Fine Arts Center Director Dies at 63

A memorial service for Sam Goldman is set for Thursday, Sept. 13

Sam Goldman, executive director of , died suddenly Monday morning at his Decatur home.

Goldman, 63, had worked at Callanwolde for more than 30 years and served as the executive director since 1988.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 13 at Callanwolde, 980 Briarcliff Road. The service is open to the public.

"Sam will be greatly missed," Callanwolde spokesperson Susan Summers said in a statement. "For these 33 years he has shown the utmost dedication to providing arts to the community and to the mission of Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. The arts center will continue to move forward with the values and commitment to the arts that Sam inspired in us."

In lieu of flowers, it is requested to send donations to Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. Donations can be made at the Callanwolde donations.net website.

I'm so sad to hear this!! I worked at Callanwolde and Sam was always smiling and such a positive force. He loved that place. You will be dearly missed Sam.
