Free Poetry Reading with D.A. Powell

Award-winning poet D.A. Powell will read and sign books Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. in the Jones Room at the Woodruff Library on the Emory University campus.

Born in Albany, Georgia, Powell writes poetry with subjects ranging from movies, music, art, and other aspects of modern culture to the AIDS epidemic. Powell's first three collections of poetry, "Tea," "Lunch," and "Cocktails," are viewed as a trilogy on the AIDS epidemic. His fourth book, "Chronic," received the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award and was nominated for a National Book Critics Circle Award. His fifth book is due out in February 2012.
