Atlanta City Council Rejects Cheshire Bridge Zoning Revisions

The vote came on Monday afternoon.

The Atlanta City Council rejected any changes to zoning regulations along Cheshire Bridge Road during its Monday meeting.

“Obviously I am disappointed in today’s vote," said City Councilman Alex Wan, who was sponsoring the legislation. "The two rezoning papers I introduced would have made it easier for the residents, businesses and other stakeholders along Cheshire Bridge Road to further revitalize the business corridor. The changes would have allowed for businesses more compatible with the needs of the community, and restrict those that are incompatible with the surrounding neighborhoods.

"As we move forward, I remain committed to continue working with all stakeholders to improve Cheshire Bridge Road.”

Two zoning amendments would have applied only to adult businesses within the two Cheshire Bridge Road neighborhood commercial districts. Those businesses would have had to relocate to areas in which adult businesses are allowed under the city’s zoning laws by June 30, 2018.

Both of Wan's measures failed by a vote of 6 to 9.
