was recognized as a green hotel by the American Hotel & Lodging Association this month.
The Clifton Road hotel is Atlanta's first LEED-Silver Certified sustainable Conference Center Hotel.
It is the only hotel in Georgia that has a single-stream recycling unit, which centralizes all recycling. Food waste is turned into gray water; waste oils are converted in bio-diesel and then used as fuel for transportation at Emory University.
The hotel was given the Achievement Award on Monday, June 18, for Good Earthkeeping in the large property category.
"We share this accolade with our entire staff and our colleagues at Emory University," Emory Conference Center Hotel General Manager Kathryn Johnson said. "It is a pleasure to be working in a community where sustainability and environmental commitment are integral to business success."
