CVS, Solar Dimensions to Open at Emory Point

The developers of the announced the first businesses to sign leases for the retail space set to open in 2012.

Businesses on board include CVS, Jos A. Bank, Marlow's Tavern, Which Wich, Solar Dimensions and Carriage Cleaners, according to a report.

Emory Point is a mixed-use project under construction that will bring retail space and apartments to the vacant lot across from the and just down the street from .

Atlanta-based Cousins Properties Incorporated — a publically traded company — is partnering with Atlanta-based Gables Residential on the project.

Developers split the project into three phases to avoid scaling too quickly.

The first phase will cost more than $100 million to complete and will include 443 luxury apartments and 80,000 square-feet of retail space.

Construction on phase one began in July and is expected to be complete in the fall of 2012. The timeline for the second and third phases will depend on demand.

The Emory Point project will create about 600 jobs in the community, Cousins President Larry Gellerstedt told 4-Traders.
