Atlanta NASCAR race on Aug. 30 to benefit Feed The Children

When NASCAR returns to the Atlanta Motor Speedway on Labor Day weekend, fast cars and checkered flags will share the stage with a more serious issue: hunger and poverty.

Feed the Children, a leading international charity, is teaming up with Great Clips to sponsor the Nationwide Series 300 stock car race on Aug. 30. The event will be titled the Great Clips 300 Benefiting Feed The Children.

“We are very excited and honored to be a part of the Great Clips 300 race,” said Corey Gordon, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for Feed The Children. “This partnership with Great Clips, Atlanta Motor Speedway and Feed The Children will help shine a spotlight on hunger and poverty issues in the United States, helping us further our mission that no child or family should go to bed hungry.”

The partnership between Feed the Children and Great Clips includes an effort to provide homeless school children in Atlanta and across the U.S. with backpacks filled with school supplies, books and personal care items. Customers who donate $1 to Feed the Children at a Great Clips location will receive $2 off their next haircut, with the donations helping to fund the cost of the backpacks and supplies.

"One of the opportunities that comes from being a successful business is the ability to make a difference in the communities where we operate," says Great Clips Director of Communications Tammy Nienaber. "More than 200 Great Clips salons in the southeast will work together to help Feed The Children provide backpacks to homeless children at back to school this fall. Even small acts of support can be a Great Deed(TM) to someone in need."

Tickets for the Great Clips 300 Benefitting Feed The Children start at just $25 and kids 12 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult general admission ticket.
