Thomas Eye Group Celebrates 40 Years

Thomas Eye Group, a leading metro Atlanta eye care provider offering comprehensive services including LASIK and medical, surgical and cosmetic eye care, has announced that it is celebrating 40 years as one of the region’s most preferred ophthalmology practices.

Founded by W. Kevin Thomas, M.D. and Stephen B. Levine, M.D., Thomas Eye Group has served the metro Atlanta community since 1974. The company began as a general ophthalmology practice in Sandy Springs with Dr. Kevin Thomas seeing adult patients and Dr. Stephen Levine, a pediatric ophthalmologist, treating pediatric patients.

Over the years, the practice has steadily grown to eight locations around metro Atlanta and boasts 23 doctors providing highly specialized services including pediatric ophthalmology, cataract surgery, oculoplastics, retina and glaucoma in addition to routine eye exams, glasses and contact lenses. The office locations include Atlanta Medical Center, Decatur, Lilburn, Newnan, Roswell, Sandy Springs, Suwanee and Woodstock.

“When I first went into practice, I was scared to death that I would have no patients to see,” said founder, Dr. Kevin Thomas, who retired in 2013. “My wife, Carol, tried to console me by telling me that all I had to do was treat everyone the way I would like to be treated, and to be fair and nice to everyone.  I tried my best to accomplish those goals, and my wife must have been right, since the practice has grown to one of the largest ophthalmology practices in the country.”
