Did you or Grandma ever live in Druid Hills?

Some current residents, through the Civic Association, have been approached by Arcadia Publishing to create a volume for its “Images of America” series. These photograph-rich publications document the social history of neighborhoods.  There are existing or forthcoming volumes on other Atlanta neighborhoods: Inman Park, Avondale Estates, Virginia Highlands, and Grant Park.  Up to 300 period photographs are needed to create each of these volumes. Arcadia prefers images that are unpublished, not in the public domain. Our period of interest ranges from 1893, when Frederick Law Olmsted planned the Druid Hills subdivision, to the late 1980's when the Road Fight ended. Our linear park has been restored and most of Druid Hills has local protection from the City of Atlanta and DeKalb County, with excellent examples of American vernacular architecture in a park-like setting: grand houses as well as more modest Craftsman bungalows, Tudor cottages, FHA Cape Cods, and in-line ranches.
