Celebrate New Year's Eve Close to Home

Here are some options for ringing in the New Year in and around Virginia-Highland and Druid Hills, whether you like dancing, drinking, dressing up in a sci-fi costume, or just enjoying a fine meal.

Where you like to dance, or you prefer a nice dinner with a champagne toast at midnight, you have several options for celebrating News Years Eve close to home.

Here are some suggestions:

Enjoy a performance at Dad's Garage Theatre Company, including adult humor and adult beverages. Tickets for the two showings of the New Year's Eve Shizzazzle are $35.

Dress up and dance at Gatsby's, the new 1920s era nightclub and dessert lounge taking over the former 3-Legged Cowboy space at the Midtown Promenade. Gatsby's is celebrating its grand opening on New Year’s Eve, with big-band swing music playing from 6–10 p.m. After that, a DJ will take over the dance floor. Patrons are encouraged to dress to impress because the customer with the best mask and costume will receive a $300 allowance at the bar. General admission tickets are $50 in advance, and $60 at the door. To reserve your ticket now, visit here or call 1-877-203-0161.

Enjoy a sci-fi celebration. Diesel Filling Station and CON*tourage have teamed up for a New Year’s eve bash. Starting at 8 p.m., beer-loving sci-fi fans donned in their favorite Dragon*Con inspired costumes are invited to join the CON*tourage crew for drink specials, complimentary champagne toasts, giveaways, live music and a ball drop at midnight. For more information, visit the event's Facebook page.

Groove to the smooth stylings of Yacht Rock Revue at the New Year's Eve at Park Tavern. The all-inclusive event will take place in the Piedmont Room overlooking the Midtown Skyline. See here for more information.

Enjoy a buffet style celebration at the all-inclusive New Year's Eve party at The Warren. The event at The Warren City Club features a buffet running from 8-11 p.m., including a prime rib carving station, sliced turkey, seared ahi tuna, a wide array of sides, and desserts of Raspberry Chocolate Tart and Cheesecake Pecan Pies.

Eat dinner and enjoy live music at Sprig. The restaurant on LaVista Road offers an a la carte menu as well as a four-course dinner paired with either beer or wine for $65. At 9 p.m., the Kerry Hill Band performs.

Enjoy a Mexican meal with a band at the Red Pepper celebration. The restaurant on Briarcliff Road serves Mexican cuisine with a four-course menu for $30 per person plus tax and gratuity. Critty Upchurch & Friends perform.

Other New Year’s late night dining options include:

Call ahead for reservations because many of these restaurants are likely to book for peak seating hours.
