DeKalb Animal Services Expands Hours

Animal shelter now open seven days a week

The DeKalb County Animal Shelter is adjusted operating hours to make pet adoptions possible seven days a week.

The animal shelter at 845 Camp Road in Decatur is now operating on the following schedule:

  • Monday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Thursday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Friday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Sunday 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. (beginning July 22)

In addition, the 2012 Summer Pet Adoption Program has expanded to include a July adoption special for cats.

In July, all cats and kittens will be $40, which is half of the normal adoption fee. 

The rate includes expenses for spay or neutering, as well as up to date vaccines and tests for FIV and FELV.
