Druid Hills Alum Drowns on Lake Lanier
Tomas Larumbe, a 2011 graduate of DHHS, died Monday
The community is mourning the loss of a recent graduate that friends describe as a promising young man.
Tomas Larumbe, a 2011 DHHS grad, drowned on Lake Lanier Monday, CBS Atlanta reported.
Larumbe's cousin, Alex Valencia, told CBS that he tried to save his cousin from drowning, but couldn't swim down deep enough.

"I was like 10 meters away from him and I just saw him float down," Valencia said. "I tried to get him but I couldn't get him anymore. I tried to go as deep as I could, but nothing -- I couldn't do anything."
Larumbe recently joined the Army and was scheduled to leave for basic training in October.
