EPA, County Officials to Discuss Zonolite Cleanup

Public meeting set for July 11

A proposal to turn the Zonolite Park area into a community garden and park could take a big step forward next week.

DeKalb County public officials and EPA representatives plan to meet with community members next week to discuss plans to clean up the contaminated area and use the public space as a community garden and park.

A contaminated mound behind 1145 Zonolite Rd. must be cleaned up before the land can be used as public space, according to an EPA report. The contamination area was left by W.R. Grace in the 1970s.
