This weekend brings the first day of Spring! Get out and about and enjoy these...

Family Best Bets

When/Where: Friday and Saturday at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta.
Why Go: The Southern Order of Storytellers presents this family-friendly storytelling festival.  Performances especially for children and families are headliner Carmen Reedy’s Solo Concert at 7:30pm on Friday evening, and Saturday’s morning storytelling session from 10:00am to 11:30am. Also, don’t miss the  Workshop for Young Tellers on Saturday.  
Pricing: A variety of purchase options are available ranging from $8.00 for a storytelling session to $50.00 for a Festival Pass.

  • FERNBANK NATUREQUEST GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION

When/Where: Saturday and Sunday at the .
Why Go: Not only will your children be able to explore Fernbank’s newest exhibit NatureQuest- a multi-level clubhouse,  but this celebration will feature appearances by the Georgia Bubbleman, Curious George and a dragon mascot.  Enjoy games for the whole family, a giant inflatable slide, and music.
Pricing: Included with museum admission.

When/Where:  Race day registration begins at 7:00am in Grant Park near the entrance to Zoo Atlanta and the Cyclorama Civil War Museum. The 5K begins at 8:00am and the Kids Fun Run begins at 9:00am.
Why Go:  An enjoyable introduction to running and part of the Publix Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon weekend, children participating in the Fun Run will be grouped by age and those groups will run distances ranging from .1 to .75 miles.  All participants will receive an official race t-shirt and medal.  As well as the races, activities will include arts, crafts and balloon artists.  
Pricing:  The 5K entry fee is $25.00 through the Expo (Friday at the Georgia Dome) and $30.00 on race day.  The Kids Fun Run entry fee is $20.00 through the Expo and $25 on race day.

When/Where: Saturday from 8:00am to 4:00pm at Whole Foods Market, 2111 Briarcliff Rd NE, Atlanta.
Why Go:  If you will be grocery shopping this weekend...this is the day (and a great excuse) to visit Whole Foods as they celebrate the Whole Planet Foundation with giveaways, lunch, live music and food stations.
Pricing:  Event is free. Grab a burger lunch (including chips and drink) between 11:00am and 2:00pm for a $5.00 donation.

  • FAMILY CONCERT: ATLANTA’S YOUNG ARTISTS

When/Where: Sunday at 4:00pm in the Reception Hall.
Why Go:  Inspire your children with this performance of the Emory Chamber Music of Society of Atlanta Family Concert Series featuring some of Atlanta’s talented young musicians as guest artists.
Pricing: $4.00 per person and children under 3 years old free.
