Monday Essentials: Dogwood Invitational At Druid Hills Golf Club

Here are five things to know about the week ahead in and around Virginia Highland and Druid Hills.

Dogwood Invitational. This amateur golf championship begins Monday at Druid Hills Golf Club and ends Saturday.  Top amateurs from around the nation will play.

Inaugural Old Fourth Ward Park Arts Festival. Two hundred vendors will sell  paintings, sculpture, photography, jewelry and woodwork Saturday and Sunday at the park at 592 N Angier Ave NE. Free admission.

Whole Pig Roast & Peach BBQ Sauce Competition.
The Decatur Farmers Market will help celebrate Georgia’s favorite fruit  (duh, the peach) with a pig roast and peach BBQ sauce contest. Happens 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Decatur Farmers Market in the Bank of America parking lot at Church and Commerce. This is the first of four "Peach Jam" events sponsored by Slow Food Atlanta and Community Farmers Markets  June 26-30. Free admission.

HIV Testing Day. A community health fair will be held Thursday at the DeKalb Addiction Clinic, located at 455 Winn Way in Decatur. Free HIV testing will be available for anybody 17 and older from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Urban farm camp.  The Wylde Center will lead this creative learning experience for kids 5-11 years old. Starts 9 a.m. Monday at 1503 Hardee St NE.
