Submit Anonymous Crime Tips With New Phone App

Crime Stoppers Atlanta now connected with TipSubmit Mobile

Virginia-Highland residents have yet another outlet to report crime in the neighborhood to police, thanks to Crime Stoppers Atlanta.

TipSubmit Mobile, a free application for iPhone, iPod Touch and Android devices, allows residents to anonymously submit crime tips to Crime Stoppers from mobile devices.

“The mobile application adds a new component that makes it easier for the public to provide investigators with information essential to the apprehension of dangerous criminals,” Miguel Sepulveda, director of Crime Stoppers Atlanta, said in a news release. “The anonymous process allows people to come forward with critical tips without the fear of retribution, and feel secure in their safety and anonymity when using these powerful tools.”

iPhone and Android users will be able to submit images and video and engage in real-time “two-way dialogue with Crime Stoppers operators.”

“Crime Stoppers has become a useful investigative tool for our detectives,” Atlanta Police Chief George Turner said in a news release. “With the popularity of smart phones, an anonymous mobile application can have a tremendous impact in solving and preventing crimes – empowering our citizens to help in the crime-fighting effort.”
